IDENTITY & DIVERSITY WELLBEING IN SCHOOLS
Conversations around race can feel loaded, with many different perceptions, pain-points and fears to navigate.
But it doesn’t need to be that way - we can do better.
We’ve all been conditioned to have racialised thoughts, and it’s not our fault - it’s the way society has developed, but it is our responsibility to consciously and curiously dismantle racialised thinking and expand our minds and hearts to help put an end to racism.
Racism can take many forms, it is always being reshaped and can be knowingly and unknowingly enacted. This is why we’re passionate about providing a robust triangle framework that holistically guides parents, teachers and children to safely and sustainably develop and evolve the way they think, feel and act about race.
Our Identity & Diversity Wellbeing Initiative includes
• Heart-led workshops to explore unconscious racialised thinking
• Illuminating data & research seminars to expand knowledge
• Inspiring science & history facts to dismantle the myths of race
• Empowering mindfulness practices to deepen connections
• Compassionate self-reflection exercises to heal internalised racism
Facts that drive us
• Children from the age of 3 have developed a pro-white unconscious bias
• 95% of young Black people report that they have heard and witnessed the use of racist language at school
• Racism in schools negatively impacts children's mental health, academic achievement, and overall well-being.
• There is a substantial lack of diversity in the UK teaching workforce, and in schools’ curricula, with low levels of racial literacy among school staff
